‘With the quality’: Michael Owen predicts whether Liverpool could catch Manchester City and Arsenal after defeat

Michael Owen has given his verdict on whether Liverpool could beat Arsenal and Manchester City to the Premier League title this season after the defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.

Manchester City hammered Luton Town 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the league on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side, who have won the league title for the past three seasons, are now at the top of the table with 73 points from 32 matches.

Arsenal are second with 71 points from 31 games. The Gunners will take on Aston Villa on Sunday.

Liverpool are third now. The Merseyside club are on 71 points from 32 games. The Reds suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Michael Owen has said that it is going to be hard for his former club Liverpool to catch Arsenal and Manchester City after the loss to Palace.

Michael Owen comments on Liverpool’s Premier League title chances

Owen said on Premier League Productions: “A massive hammer blow for Liverpool. You would say with the quality of opponent it’s going to be very difficult for them.

“They’re two points behind a great side in Manchester City, and they could be three points behind Arsenal in a couple of hours. With the quality of the two teams above them, I can’t see either dropping points.”

Don’t write off Liverpool yet

In my opinion, Liverpool can still win the Premier League title this season. Yes, it is going to be hard, but I am not going to dismiss their chances.

Manchester City are on a roll now. They have won their league title for the past three seasons and know how to get the job done.

However, there is no guarantee that City will not drop points, especially against Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Arsenal have some tough games coming up. The Gunners will have to work hard to pick up points against Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.

What Liverpool need to do now is step up their game, take the chances that they create during matches, and go on a winning run.
