President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that the situation on some frontline areas has recently begun to deteriorate.

"Frontline. The situation at the front during such a hot war is always difficult. But these days - and especially in the Donetsk sector - it is getting harder. I thank every brigade, every soldier and commander who are doing everything to defend our positions and who are destroying the occupier," the President said in his evening address.

According to Zelenskyy, this week's achievements are particularly noteworthy:

  • 58th separate motorized infantry brigade;
  • 68th separate ranger brigade;
  • 148th separate artillery brigade of the Air Assault Forces;
  • 55th separate artillery brigade "Zaporizhian Sich";
  • Kraken and Artan units and the 9th Department of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

"Glory to each and every one who is doing everything to protect Ukraine from Russian terror! Glory to everyone who makes our country stronger. I thank everyone in the world who helps," the President added.

The situation at the front

Recently, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Russians were tasked with capturing the town of Chasiv Yar near Bakhmut by May 9. This will create conditions for Russia's further advance toward the Kramatorsk agglomeration.

According to Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, the Russians are trying to break through to the west of Bakhmut, but the Ukrainian military is thwarting these plans despite the enemy's numerical superiority.

The other day, information about the seizure of the village of Bohdanivka in Bakhmut district was spread online. The Ministry of Defense denied this and said that Bohdanivka remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but that heavy fighting is taking place there.
