'He is fantastic...': Kolo Toure piles praise on one Aston Villa player after Arsenal result

Kolo Toure names which Aston Villa player will ‘become one of the best strikers in the country’ after an incredible display helped the visitors beat Arsenal 2-0.

Villa produced one of their most memorable performances in recent years on Sunday as they dispatched title-chasers Arsenal in incredible style.

Unai Emery’s game plan against his former club worked to perfection as the visitors held on in the first half before pouncing on the Gunners late in the game.

Substitute Leon Bailey netted a late opener before Ollie Watkins made it 2-0 shortly after.

Many of the first-team put in some of their best performances of the season, including Diego Carlos who earned a 10/10 for his display.

However, after the match, Kolo Toure pointed out Watkins. The former Premier League winner was full of praise for the England international as he insisted he will go on to be ‘word class’.

While he may not have got the headlines this time, Watkins once again put in an emphatic performance for Villa.

The striker was unlucky not to find the net in the first half as his shot hit the inside of the post before bouncing wide.

However, the England international soon made up for his rare miss. Just after Bailey’s opener, Watkins issued the final sucker punch to put the game to bed.

Youri Tielemans played a fantastic ball to the striker. Then with the goal bearing down on Watkins, he had the composure to delicately dink David Raya to see the ball nestle into the net.

Looking back on his performance, Kolo Toure said: “The second goal is fantastic from Ollie Watkins. What a striker! I love him because what he is showing is more. It is no surprise that he has 19 goals this season (in the Premier League).

“His potential is unbelievable and he is going to be one of the best strikers in the country.”

Ollie Watkins should win Premier League Player of the Season

It was another superb showing from the Villa striker as he once again found the back of the net. However, this is no longer a surprise. Watkins has been doing this all season for the Birmingham outfit.

Unlike many strikers in the Premier League, Watkins does not only offer goals. The England international has plenty of assists this campaign with 10 currently putting him top of the division’s charts.

While players such as Phil Foden and Declan Rice are considered the front runners, Watkins should come away with the award at the end of the season.

No player has had more goal contributions so far this campaign. Watkins has done this with a weaker team behind him compared to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City.

If someone like Erling Haaland had put up those numbers, people would have been calling for him to win the Ballon d’Or.

It is clear that Watkins is already on his way to becoming a world-class player. Hopefully, he fulfils this potential while he is still at Villa Park.
