'Doesn't quite look the same': Micah Richards thinks £25m Tottenham player has lost his way

Micah Richards has now expressed his concern regarding the form of one Tottenham Hotspur player in recent games.

Ange Postecoglou’s side lost in worrying fashion at Newcastle United on the weekend, and it felt as if questions were being asked of the manager for the first time.

No one is suggesting that Postecoglou isn’t the man for the job, he’s made so much progress since his appointment, but there are issues in the side.

The likes of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur didn’t seem to know whether to press or sit off when high up the St. James’ Park pitch.

And in truth, the same can be said for any midfield combination that Postecoglou chooses right now.

Although they were exposed on Saturday, it seems as if Tottenham’s defence are getting it right tactically at least, only to be left down by those in front of them.

Of course, in an attacking sense, it felt as if Dejan Kulusevski was one of the pressing-forwards who understood Postecoglou’s mantra most intuitively.

However, the Sweden international has recently had to settle for a spot on the bench.

Micah Richards thinks Dejan Kulusevski doesn’t quite look the same at Tottenham right now

When speaking on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast, Micah Richards was quick to defend Tottenham right now, saying they are still a ‘very good team’.

However, the pundit did admit that Dejan Kulusevski now looked like a different player than the one we saw earlier in the campaign.

He explained: “I think it’s unfair for people to say Spurs have not been as… they have just done what they usually do all season, they are just basically not scoring or finishing off their chances.

“Maddison got injured at a bad time, Son went to the Asian Cup which killed their momentum a little bit, Kulusevski doesn’t look quite the same, Richarlison then got injured, but they are still a very good team.”

Who do Spurs need to sign in the summer?

Of course, when you consider that Kulusevski, who has been dropped of late as mentioned, is still the side’s third top scorer in the league with six goals, it tells a story.

Without trying to blow things out of proportion, Spurs aren’t quite scoring enough and are shipping way too many goals.

Micah Richards is right to defend Tottenham on the whole, their loss does seem to be taken out of proportion.

But right now it just seems as if Spurs need to qualify for Champions League football one way or another and get through to the summer transfer window.

Kulusevski will recover his form with time, the £25m-winger has too many excellent facets to his game not to.

That all being said, Micah Richards did also have a concern regarding Yves Bissouma when speaking over the weekend.
