Two men have been charged after significant damage was made to a school roof in a reported attempt to steal lead.
On October 27, police were called to the premises in Luton Road, Chatham, after those living nearby heard “suspicious” sounds coming from the building.
Officers attended as well as a police helicopter and two men were located and detained.
They were later bailed pending further inquiries.
More than £6,300 was spent repairing the roof, where damage had been caused to tiles and lead.
On Saturday (April 13), Tyla Hughes of Castle Well Drive, Salisbury, Wiltshire, and Jordan Day, of Chipstead Road, Gillingham, were both charged with theft and criminal damage.
Hughes, 22, and Day, 21, were bailed to a hearing at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 21.
