Greater Anglia warns of major disruption after line between Broxbourne and Stansted Airport blocked by fallen tree

Trains are not running between Broxbourne and Stansted Airport this afternoon (Mon) due to a fallen tree on the overhead electric wires near Roydon.

Greater Anglia says services through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.and major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Services on the following routes will be unable to run beyond Broxbourne until repairs have been made – Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport; Liverpool Street and Cambridge/Cambridge North; Stratford and Bishops Stortford; Liverpool Street and Hertford East.

A statement from Greater Anglia at 2pm said Network Rail engineers are mobilising a team to attend to the repairs.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Monday for the Bishop’s Stortford and surrounding area due to strong winds.

The alert warned of some short-term loss of power and other services adding some delays to road, rail, and air transport were likely.

The River Stort was blocked on Monday after a tree fell near Twyford Lock and the authorities have been alerted.
