Being elected Slovak President, Hlas chair Peter Pellegrini was required by law to step down from several posts, including Speaker of Parliament.

During the Saturday political show Sobotné Dialógy, PM Robert Fico said that 'it would be best for Slovakia if SNS head Andrej Danko were to become the next Speaker of Parliament.

Still, he added that he respects the fact that the Hlas party has the right to nominate a candidate to the post. However, the next regular session is expected to handle several important bills that will take precedence. According to Fico, the coalition will deal with the issue in a few weeks or months. The Hlas party later stated that it didn't share the PM's opinion.

Speaking on a Rádio Expres talk show on Monday, Labour Minister Erik Tomáš insisted on the post being the party's, saying that they will nominate Investment Minister Richard Raši (both Hlas) for Speaker of Parliament.

For the time being, Pellegrini appointed Deputy Speaker Peter Žiga (also Hlas) to the post until a new Speaker is chosen.
