Former President Donald Trump has in the past had multiple courtroom outbursts that have forced judges to admonish his attorneys about "controlling" their client.
However, the New York Times reported Monday that Trump's lawyers have cautioned him that his usual courtroom antics could have disastrous consequences if he acts the same way in front of a jury that is charged with deciding whether he committed criminal offenses.
Specifically, the Times writes that they have "warned him repeatedly that he needs to try not to behave erratically in front of juries and that some judges will have him put in jail if he does."
In addition to the potential legal troubles Trump could find himself in by having in-court tantrums, he would also pay a political price for it.

Anna Greenberg, a Democratic pollster, tells the Times that from her perspective, the political "X-factor" in the Trump trial is that "he's going to lose his mind."
Adding to the circus-like atmosphere of the trial, reported the Times, is the fact that rabid MAGA activist Laura Loomer is pledging to lead the protest effort against efforts to hold Trump legally accountable for alleged crimes.
“We have to raise awareness about this banana republic witch hunt against President Trump,” Loomer told the Times. “I will have my bullhorn. I will have my camera crew. I will have my Trump gear and I will have a staff writer.”
Trump himself was busy posting inflammatory content on his Truth Social platform ahead of the trial, as he claimed that Judge Juan Merchan is "crooked" while also claiming the entire trial is a conspiracy cooked up by his political enemies.
"The Radical Left Democrats are already cheating on the 2024 Presidential Election by bringing, or helping to bring, all of these bogus lawsuits against me, thereby forcing me to sit in courthouses, and spend money that could be used for campaigning, instead of being out in the field knocking Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the History of the United States," read one Trump post. "Election Interference!"
