Patsy Kensit has opened up about an "erotic experience" she had with a 39-year-old David Bowie, when she was just 16.
The actress, now 56, described how she was besotted with the iconic singer, who was 39 when he worked with the young star on Absolute Beginners in 1986. In the movie, based on Colin MacInnes' book about life in London in the 1950s, Patsy's character, Crepe Suzette, plays a model who falls in love with a 19-year-old photographer Colin - played by Eddie O'Connell.
Bowie's character, who plays a suave businessman, takes Colin under his wing, while he tries to make it as a pop star. But it was backstage that the action happened for a young Patsy, who described Bowie as "gorgeous", admitting she was "completely in awe" of the star, who was "lovely" to everyone.
She explained to The Sunday Times : "I was also deluded, imagining that he'd fall in love with me and we'd run off. And of course [when we met] I was in a line-up of people where he just shook my hand and then went along the line, and I was crushed."
But when she was sitting in make-up one day, she described how he "popped his head" in to say 'hi' to her, before picking up a brush and brushing her hair, not saying a word. After brushing her hair, he walked away, with Patsy adding: "It was the most erotic experience of my life."
Patsy, who has been married four times, to Dan Donovan, Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and DJ Jeremy Healy, added elsewhere in the interview that she finds going to hardware stores a "horny" experience.
It's not the first time David Bowie is reported to have had an encounter with a young girl. Comedian David Baddiel alleged that one of his female friends had a threesome with him, when he was on a Caribbean holiday with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger in the 1980s.
Speaking on his podcast in 2019, said: "This woman was 16 at the time and Bowie would have been in his 40s. She and her best friend had one of many drinking nights with Bowie and Jagger and ended up back at their shack with David. David was clearly keen on a threesome and he had to put some work in to create it.
"The way he did this, according to her, was to take all his clothes off and put on Let’s Dance on cassette and dance naked. It worked for David as the girls both got naked. She copped off with him. She got naked, there was sexual goings-on but she didn’t sleep with David. I said 'Why on earth would you not want to lose your virginity to David Bowie?' She replied 'It wouldn’t have meant anything to him. I didn't want to do that for him, just one night'. Instead she went outside. David did s*** the friend then came out and tried to make it all right with her 'cos she was a bit p***** off."
