Northgate friends raise £405 for Animal Rescue Charity in Bishop’s Stortford with a cake sale

Eight girls at Northgate Primary School raised £405 for the Animal Rescue Charity (ARC) in Bishop’s Stortford with a cake sale.

The group of 11-year-old friends in Year 6 baked around 600 brownies, cupcakes, cookies, chocolate crispy cakes, shortbread biscuits and a large Maltesers chocolate cake to sell at their school in Cricketfield Lane.

Then during the Easter holidays the girls handed over their donation to the Farnham Road centre, where they were given a tour and introduced to Tiddler the kitten and James the dog, who were waiting to go to their new homes.

The star bakers were Lottie Burman, Elizabeth O’Reilly, Holly Newman, Tallulah Bedocs-Merry, Millie Smith, Eden Fullbrook, Vishu Pawar and Dilys Evans.

The ARC, a sanctuary for neglected, unwanted and abandoned animals, was founded in 1991 by mother and daughter Jan and Fiona Rose, who initially took in strays from the next-door police station.
