The future of Rocco Vata is one that has held the interest of the Celtic fans all season.

Hailed as one of the best prospects to come out of the Celtic Academy, Vata has been tearing up the Lowland League for the past two seasons.

The Republic of Ireland u21 star has made 34 appearances for Celtic B and has scored an incredible 23 goals.

Vata has also made 12 appearances for Celtic in the UEFA Youth League and for the Hoops first-team, the youngster has had six run-outs in total under Brendan Rodgers, scoring one goal in the 5-0 win over Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup. [Transfermarkt]

The 18-year-old winger is out of contract at the end of the season and Brendan Rodgers has been looking look to tie him up on a longer-term deal at Celtic.

Lazio look to Rocco Vata

Vata has been getting some attention from Torino, as well as English Premier League side, Watford and Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig have also been named as clubs who hold interest in him.

And now, according to a report in Cittaceleste, Lazio now holds an interest in the talented winger. The Rome club are said to be bringing in ‘big changes’ this summer as they look to strengthen for next season and have two improvements they are looking to make to their first-team squad.

The report says, “In fact, Lazio would be evaluating the offer Ibrahima Sissoko from Strasbourg (followed in the past also by Milan, Roma and Bologna) and would be waiting for signals from Celtic’s Rocco Vata instead.”

Hopefully, those ‘signals’ will not be forthcoming and Vata does sign a new contract extension at Celtic.

There is no doubt that he is a talented attacker with a very bright and exciting future awaiting him in the game and hopefully that future is at Paradise under Brendan Rodgers.
