A fire broke out at the historic stock exchange in Copenhagen, Denmark. The building, one of the oldest in the city, was engulfed in flames, according to BBC.
All individuals inside the building managed to evacuate safely, including those who rushed to save some historical paintings.
"The building, dating back to 1625, is a stone's throw from Denmark's parliament, the Folketing, and the royal palace, Christiansborg," BBC writes.

The stock exchange was undergoing reconstruction at the time of the fire and was currently housing the Danish Chamber of Commerce.
Some have compared the fire in the building and the blaze at Notre-Dame Cathedral, which occurred in the heart of Paris in 2019.

At present, the cause of the fire in Copenhagen remains unknown, although emergency services have said that scaffolding complicated their efforts.

The Notre-Dame fire occurred on April 15, 2019. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly a day, which destroyed a significant portion of the cathedral's roof, including the spire, and damaged the interior.
