What the Liverpool squad really think about Ruben Amorim replacing Jurgen Klopp

According to the latest reports, Liverpool’s squad is all feeling the same way about Ruben Amorim’s potential appointment.

Ruben Amorim seems to be the favourite candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Which isn’t really a surprise. The 39-year-old has an exceptional track record in his five years in management so far.

It includes winning a Portuguese Cup title with Braga after just a few months in charge, delivering a league title at Sporting CP for the first time in 19-years, and being on course to repeat that feat this season.

Based on those achievements alone, Amorim may be an even better candidate for the job than Xabi Alonso. Especially, when you consider the fact that he is three years younger than the former Liverpool man, but has been managing at an elite level for several more years.

How the Liverpool dressing room is feeling about Amorim’s appointment

Amorim may have an impressive resume, but taking over from Jurgen Klopp will not be an easy task.

Klopp has been in charge of Liverpool for nine years. He has practically become synonymous with the club.

The players trust him and follow him staunchly. The same applies to the club’s supporters as well. So Amorim’s task will not be easy.

But he does have experience of managing high expectations. He played for Benfica as a player and now managed Sporting CP, one of the biggest clubs in Portugal.

It seems Amorim also has the backing of the players. According to Portuguese journalist, Pedro Sepúlveda, the Liverpool players would welcome Amorim’s appointment.

What will Ruben Amorim bring to Liverpool?

Amorim in many ways plays a similar style to Klopp. But there will be differences in how he sets-up.

Since the beginning of his career, Amorim has always used a back three, so we expect him to continue with that formation at Liverpool.

On top of that, Amorim also gives plenty of young players an opportunity, so again there won’t be too many differences there either.
