Manchester United’s U18 side lifted the U18 Premier League trophy on Tuesday after beating Wolves 2-1 away from home.

Adam Lawrence’s side got off to an excellent start, scoring first through Gabriele Biancheri thanks to a Zach Baumann assist.

Wolves then grabbed one back before Manchester United reestablished the advantage through Biancheri, to head into half-time 2-1 ahead.

These were Biancheri’s 15th and 16th goals of the season as he now looks to have fully adapted to life in red and is showing the promise he was known to have when signed to the academy from Cardiff.

Manchester United U18s lift Premier League trophy

After a long and impressive season, the U18s have now won the U18 Premier League which is exactly what is deserved due to how unstoppable they’ve been.

Biancheri played the starring role on the day, but the likes of Ethan Wheatley, Ethan Williams, James Scanlon and Harry Amass also deserve their flowers for a fantastic campaign which has rightfully seen silverware picked up.

It’s the first time since 2017/18 that United have won the league and arguably the most exciting group of players we’ve seen emerge from Carrington for quite a long time.

They’ll now have the chance to make it a double this season with a win over Manchester City next week in the U18 PL Cup final.

An incredible moment for the youngsters as they secured the North title and will likely face Chelsea now for the right to be called National champions.

Gabriele Biancheri starting to thrive upfront

After arriving in January 2023, Biancheri didn’t immediately adapt and has spent a lot of this season with Wheatley ahead of him.

He’s becoming very clinical in the six-yard box as he regularly finishes his chances there as seen from his second goal against Wolves.

From this, we can understand why initial comparisons of his style were drawn to Sergio Aguero.

Biancheri will now be hoping that he can kick on and push properly toward the U21s next season and the end of this season, with Wheatley set for a spot on the bench with the first team.
