ITV Emmerdale exit 'sealed' as cast tease dramatic courtroom twist that 'changes everything'

By Charlotte Tutton

Emmerdale cast members have teased an exit could be on the cards in upcoming scenes, as a twist "changes everything".

Soap stars Zoe Henry and Mark Charnock teased the future of their characters Rhona Goskirk and Marlon Dingle, amid their battle with Rhona's ex Gus Malcolms over the custody of baby Ivy. Viewers know that Gus and his late partner Lucy went behind Rhona's back and used the embryos she had frozen with Gus years earlier.

Lucy sadly died during the birth of baby Ivy, and Rhona decided to help Gus amidst his grief to care for their daughter. Rhona soon developed maternal feelings for the little one, and told Gus she wanted to be a part of Ivy's life, leaving him furious.

Since then they've clashed over Ivy's future, and events have led to Rhona facing court for kidnap charges, and Gus facing court for fraud linked to the stolen embryos. Rhona recently learned she was not guilty, and now Gus faces the jury next week.

But it appears something happens in the courtroom that "changes everything" and shocks Rhona. Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Zoe and Mark teased the storyline and a possible exit for Gus, as Zoe confessed Rhona wants her ex "out of the way".

Zoe told us: "I think it would have been an easier journey for, not an easy journey, but an easier journey for Rhona, because there's that primal instinct of this is my child. And I don't mean to sound sexist, but sometimes I think it is sort of a gut reaction female-wise. It's an instinct that just kicks in. And I think, perhaps for Marlon, it's been a different journey.”

She went on: "Rhona does something that I'm like, 'hang on a minute'. What she does in court, is that premeditated? Because that changes everything. What she does is tell the truth and it just takes her by surprise, which is kind of what happens in that moment.

"I think truth be told, Rhona would love Gus, in a magical fairytale way, to just disappear, and to have that baby and just be a happy family unit all together. But she also knows that's not particularly fair."

Mark added: "Marlon falls in love with the baby, and he's ready to go for it. But it's taken him a while to get there."
