'You should have deported her': Marjorie Taylor Greene's bizarre statement on Laken Riley

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) mistakenly suggested that Laken Riley should have been deported before her alleged murder at the hands of an undocumented migrant.

Greene made the remark Tuesday during a House Homeland Security Committee hearing with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

"This is corruption at the deepest level," Greene said of President Joe Biden's immigration policy. "As a matter of fact, I would call it treason."

"It's treason because these people have declared war on our citizens by raping our women, our children, and murdering people," she continued. "Like Laken Riley, you're familiar with her, right?"

Mayorkas confirmed that he was familiar with Riley's case.

"You should have deported her so that she could be alive today," Greene said. "Her parents would have appreciated that."

She didn't correct the apparent slip.

Riley, 22, has been made the face of immigration reform by Republicans who use her story to bolster claims that loose borders are letting the U.S. be flooded with undesirables. Donald Trump has routinely talked about immigrants coming from prisons and mental institutions.

Riley was killed in Febuary while jogging near the University of Georgia.

At the State of the Union, Greene shouted from the gallery, "Say her name!"
