'World-class' Arsenal player spotted in training pre-Bayern despite injury scare on Sunday

Arsenal have to quickly put Sunday’s Premier League defeat behind them ahead of their biggest game of the season so far.

The Gunners lost ground in the title race after falling to a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s defeat, combined with Liverpool’s equally unexpected loss to Crystal Palace, has put Manchester City in pole position for the title.

However, the Gunners must now turn their attention to Wednesday night’s trip to Bayern Munich for their Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Arsenal drew the first leg 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium last week, so it’s very much in the balance and the Gunners will hope to prevail.

On Sunday, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta had to sub one of his main players off due to a knock, but it looks as though he should be fine for the game.

The player in question is Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, who was unable to complete the full game against Villa.

Odegaard came off with 10 minutes to go, Emile Smith Rowe taking his place with the Gunners looking for a winner at the time.

After the match, Arteta told football.london: “He was feeling something. He could not continue.”

However, Tuesday’s training pictures from the Arsenal media team showed Odegaard taking part in training and looking okay.

Odegaard taking part in training is a big relief for Arsenal, as the captain is such an integral part of the starting XI.

The “world-class” midfielder and leader has been superb for most of the season and was virtually unplayable in the first half against Villa.

Bayern will obviously be a very difficult game, so Arsenal will hope to have as many of their top players firing on all cylinders. With Odegaard seeming fine, it’s great news.
