One-time Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday lobbed what appeared to be a racist dog whistle against the judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's hush-money case.

In a tweet, Giuliani accused Judge Juan Merchan of being "a disgrace" who is "not a judge in the tradition of Anglo-American jurists."

Giuliani did not elaborate on why Merchan would be outside of the "Anglo-American" tradition, and proceeded to falsely claim that Merchan had barred Trump from attending the high-school graduation of his youngest son, Barron Trump, when in reality the judge has not yet ruled on the matter one way or another.

The former New York mayor, who became infamous for spouting demonstrable falsehoods about poll workers in the 2020 election that resulted in him getting slammed with a massive $148 million defamation verdict, continued to hurl invective at Merchan throughout the rest of his post.

"Judge Merchan and his family have displayed a sick obsessive, hatred for this defendant," wrote Giuliani. "It explains his consistently unfair, unconstitutional and illegal decisions. He is just proving that the NYC so-called court system is part of a one-party political dictatorship. It is a disgrace and embarrassment to all New Yorkers and all fair minded Americans. It should be thoroughly investigated (excluding members of the complicit bar association) and completely reformed. (Remember what the Knapp Commission did for the NYPD)."

Merchan was born in the Colombian capital of Bogotá, although he has lived in New York City since the age of six and he was first appointed to become a judge in 2006 by then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a Republican who would later switch his affiliation to be independent.

Giuliani's attacks on Merchan were reminiscent of Trump's 2016 attacks on Judge Gonzalo Curiel, whom Trump said could not fairly oversee the Trump University fraud case on the grounds that he had "Mexican" heritage.
