Katy Perry’s Wardrobe Malfunction

Contestant Roman Collins had just wrapped his performance of James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” when all three judges stood to show their appreciation.

Then, Perry quickly tried to crouch down behind the desk while covering her top half.

“That song, uh, broke my top off,” Perry told the audience.

The silver metallic top featured bold, jagged edges that could have easily been knocked loose when quickly standing to applaud a contestant. According to ET, the top is a custom Kate Barton piece.

Following the show, Perry told Access Hollywood wardrobe mishaps have been common during her run as an American Idol judge.

“It seems like every season I’m either tearing the seam of my pants or — I’m just super expressive physically,” she said during a post-show interview. “I love this outfit so much, and I knew I was rolling the dice, but I was like, ‘who cares?'”

The country singer posted about Perry’s top on social media prior to the show, asking “what the heck is she wearing, tin foil?!”

Judge Lionel Richie jokingly told ET the country singer is to blame for issue with Perry’s top.

“And then Luke spent the rest of the time going, ‘I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.’ But he was definitely apologetic and then he tried to put it back together and that looked worse than the whole thing,” Richie said, having fun at Bryan’s expense.
