Raymond Cottrell‘s stay in Lexington didn’t last long.
On Tuesday afternoon, On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Cottrell, who transferred to Kentucky in December after spending most of the 2023 season with Texas A&M, has once again entered his name into the portal. The spring transfer portal window opened on Tuesday and will close on April 30.
Cottrell originally went into the portal in November while Texas A&M was still in the middle of its season. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver took an official visit to Kentucky in early December and committed while on the trip.
Despite going through spring practice with Kentucky and speaking highly of the Wildcats’ new wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts back in February, Cottrell will search for a new landing spot ahead of the 2024 season. Cottrell was able to redshirt his freshman season with the Aggies after playing just three games, giving him four years of eligibility remaining.
At the time of his transfer to UK, Cottrell was seen as a possibly significant addition for head coach Mark Stoops. He’s a former four-star high school recruit who initially chose Texas A&M after de-committing from both Florida and Georgia while in high school. He just hasn’t been able to stick anywhere quite yet.
