Everything you could want to go coarse and carp fishing is available at Stansted Angling Warehouse’s brand new premises on the outskirts of Bishop’s Stortford.
From fishing tackle and clothing to a huge range of accessories and a wide selection of baits, you will find all you need whether you are an experienced angler, a novice or a youngster embarking on your first fishing trip.
The business, which has been trading for more than two decades, moved from its former premises in Lower Street, Stansted, to its new unit within H@ME & EAT on the Birchanger Industrial Estate in Stansted Road, Stortford, on March 1.
Its new warehouse setting, with trade counter, means it stocks a massive range of products from big-name brands including Korda, Trakker, Drennan, ESP, Fox and Sticky Baits. It now also has its own dedicated parking while customers can combine a trip to pick up fishing supplies with a visit to the H@ME & EAT cafe.
Shop manager Joe Hawkins and colleague Sam pride themselves on giving excellent service to all their customers, whether they are just starting out or have been fishing for years.
They are always happy to help, offer advice and give demonstrations - nothing is too much trouble - and they are passionate about getting children and teenagers kitted out so they can enjoy all the social and mental health benefits the sport provides.
The business has links with Bishop’s Stortford & District Angling Society which holds summer open days to get youngsters interested in fishing.
Stansted Angling was established in 2001 when Steven Harvey bought Stort Angling, based at Hockerill, and rebranded it following the move to Lower Street in Stansted. Joe then took over the running of the business in 2017.
Joe, who grew up in Elsenham, lives in Newport with fiancee Camila and their two-year-old daughter Matilda. They are also expecting twins any day now.
The shop manager first started fishing at the age of 12 with a group of friends and it soon developed into a huge passion.
Stansted Angling Warehouse also has a website where customers can browse its products. If you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for, Joe and Sam will always attempt to get it for you and are always competitive on pricing.
Stansted Angling Warehouse is at Birchanger Industrial Park, Stansted Road, Bishop’s Stortford, with access through H@ME & EAT. The shop is located at the back of the cafe. It is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and has late-night opening until 7pm every Thursday.
