Liverpool told they have a youngster coming through like 'Ollie Watkins' who Jürgen Klopp loves - journalist

Liverpool have been told they have a player coming through who is like Ollie Watkins and who Jurgen Klopp really loves.

Over the course of the last few seasons, Jurgen Klopp has really embraced the club’s academy. Rather than buying big money stars, Klopp has often opted to promote from within instead.

We’ve seen that decision bear fruit this season. During Liverpool’s injury crisis, the club’s young players stepped up in a time of need.

They helped Liverpool overcome a difficult period. Some of them havesince become regular first team players, like Jarell Quansah or Conor Bradley.

Meanwhile, others have established themselves on the periphery of the team, such as Bobby Clark or Jayden Danns.

All of them are highly rated by the club. Although there is on who seems really special at the moment and he has just been likened to Ollie Watkins.

Neil Jones explains why Jayden Danns is like Ollie Watkins and why Jurgen Klopp loves him

That player is of course, Jayden Danns. Ever since he came into the first team, he’s got a special aura around him.

From the first minute against Luton on his debut he looked like a lively threat. Then he almost scored twice in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, before actually scoring a brace against Southampton in the FA Cup.

Danns is gifted technically, he’s got the speed and the physical traits to be a nuisance to the opposition. He’s also an exemplary finisher, and has been very prolific in front of goal over the last year or so.

Now speaking on Redmen TV, journalist Neil Jones has backed Danns to go far and likened him to Ollie Watkins. He also explained why Jurgen Klopp is absolutely enamoured with him.

“You look at Dominic Solanke, he reminds me a bit of. You look at Ollie Watkins a little bit. He’s got elements of that. He runs the channels really well. He’s in the penalty area you know.

“Even when he was in the first team, and look there’s a difference between when you’re dropped into the first team out of nowhere, and people are just like ‘woah who is this guy’ to when you’re part of it and people are like ‘right what are you going to do’?

“Apparently Jurgen [Klopp] is absolutely enamoured with him. He’s the one who has maybe along with Bobby Clark, they’re the ones who sort of come up into the first team and Jurgen’s been like ‘pfft we’ll have him.’

“It would be very wise for Liverpool to consider all options around him as opposed to saying ‘right he’s 18 and you know we got this and that.’

“He looks to me like someone that if he got a lucky break, he looks to me like he’s the kind of person who might be able to seize that opportunity in the first team squad.”

Could Jayden Danns feature against Atalanta tomorrow night?

Danns is yet to play since coming on very briefly in a last-gasp win over Nottingham Forest back in early March.

That was a month and a half ago. He’s also yet to make his Europa League debut for the Reds. However, with Liverpool desperately needing goals tomorrow night, it’s not inconceivable that he features in the game.

He’s shown before that he can step-up into the first team and do well, and Klopp could throw him in at the deep end once again.
