Children among dozens killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza

Israel said on Wednesday that its "military activities" were ongoing in central Gaza, as Palestinians reported airstrikes across the enclave overnight Tuesday.

The southern city of Rafah, where over one million have sought refuge, was hit by airstrikes overnight on Tuesday.

At least 20 people, including children, were killed in strikes in Gaza over the past day. Footage on Wednesday morning showed residents surveying the damage to residential buildings.

At least 13 civilians died in an Israeli strike in Sheikh Radwan a district of Gaza City, Arabic language news site Arabi 21 reported, with four children killed by a strike on a house in Rafah.

Strikes on Yabna refugee camp in Gaza killed seven people, including children on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, tensions flared up between Lebanon's Hezbollah and Israel as four Lebanese were killed by targeted Israeli drone strikes over the past day, including three Hezbollah members.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council is due to vote on Thursday on a bid for full Palestinian membership of the UN, according to AFP. There are doubts that the council will be able to make a "unanimous recommendation".
