Russia's missile attack on Chernihiv killed 11 people. At the same time, 22 people have been injured and three are missing, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
"Emergency services are eliminating the consequences of rocket attacks on the city. 11 dead, 22 injured as of now. We have reports of at least three missing persons," he says.
According to the Minister, there are still people under the rubble.
"The search and rescue operation is underway. Psychologists are working with the victims," Klymenko says.
He adds that a 25-year-old police lieutenant was among those killed in the Russian shelling.
"The woman lived in a neighboring house and was at home on sick leave. She sustained a fatal shrapnel wound," he says.
Russian attack on Chernihiv
On April 17, in the morning, during an air raid alert, explosions were heard in Chernihiv. Later, local authorities confirmed that Russian troops had attacked the city.
According to the authorities, the occupiers fired three missiles at Chernihiv. The missiles hit civilian and social infrastructure facilities almost in the center of the city.
Electricity, gas, and water supply were temporarily cut off in the area of the attack for security reasons.
