OnePlus is launching another new smartwatch and tablet, and you don’t have long to wait

OnePlus has been very busy at the start of 2024, and there are no signs of it slowing down.

The Chinese company has confirmed that its second European launch event of the year will take place on 23 April 2024 in Helsinki, Finland. There, OnePlus has revealed that both a lifestyle edition of the OnePlus Watch 2 and new affordable Pad Go tablet will both be introduced.

However, we already know quite a lot about both devices. The watch, which will be exclusively available in Europe, will supposedly “help users blend style with functionality, and transition between every aspect of their lives”.

That suggests it’ll be functionally identical to the regular OnePlus Watch 2, but that’s no bad thing. It’s a huge step forward compared to the original OnePlus Watch, and largely solves the issue of poor battery life on Wear OS devices.

Presumably, a lifestyle edition will make some changes to the design, but the teaser image doesn’t give much away:

As for the Pad Go, this is a brand-new device – at least for the European market. It launched in India back in October 2023, so we already know pretty much everything about it.

It’s essentially a more affordable version of the regular OnePlus Pad that launched earlier in 2023. However, there are a few notable downgrades, despite a similar-sized 11.35-inch display. The refresh rate drops to 90Hz from 144Hz, while the resolution is also lower.

Instead of the impressive Dimensity 9000 processor, you’ll have to make do with another, less powerful MediaTek chip – the Helio G99. The single rear camera is now 8Mp rather than 13Mp, while the Pad Go’s 8000mAh battery and 33W charging are a step down from the regular Pad’s 9510mAh and 67W.

Nonetheless, if priced right in Europe, it could be a solid budget tablet. The price of the regular Watch 2 made it a compelling option, so hopefully there aren’t any big price rises on the Lifestyle Edition.

Look out for our full reviews of both devices after they launch.
