Theo Walcott says 'very different' striker Arsenal want reminds him of Thierry Henry

Theo Walcott has claimed that a striker Arsenal have been linked with actually reminds him of Thierry Henry.

The summer transfer window is just over a couple of months away now. Edu Gaspar will surely have his plans ready, and Arsenal have been linked with plenty of names.

Mikel Arteta will want reinforcements in multiple areas of the pitch. Additions in midfield, left-back and out wide are likely to be high on the agenda, but a new striker has to be the priority.

Michael Owen has suggested three centre-forwards for Arsenal, and Walcott has made an interesting claim about one of them now.

Theo Walcott makes surprise claim about Arsenal target Ollie Watkins

The striker market is expected to be very active this summer.

Arsenal are expected to be on the hunt for a new number nine, while the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and even Manchester United could dive into the market for a new centre-forward.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar would’ve made a list of names they would like at the Emirates Stadium already, and Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins is said to be one among them.

The Englishman has been having an amazing season. He scored against Arsenal at the weekend too and will be on the radar of many clubs this summer.

Theo Walcott knows a thing or two about scoring goals as an attacker, and the former Arsenal star has now had his say on Watkins.

In what is a really surprising claim, Walcott has revealed that the Aston Villa striker reminds him of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

He said, as per the Metro: “I feel he is the sort of player that Arsenal would look at. What I really like about Ollie Watkins is that, you look at his style and you think he is a winger. He reminds me, and it’s one of the best compliments I am going to give him, but he reminds me of Thierry Henry.

“Against Arsenal, he played out on the left a lot. He wanted to be a forward, but drifted out on the left – he’s such a threat on the counter. He is playing at the top of his game and it would be refreshing to see if he stays at the club.

“There were warning signs [for Arsenal] when he hit the post. I feel like, when he goes through, he is going to score, that’s how confident he is playing right now. ‘I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of teams sniffing around for Ollie Watkins right now. He is very different.”

Thierry Henry already impressed by one thing about Ollie Watkins

Thierry Henry was in a league of his own when he was at Arsenal.

The legendary Frenchman was an unbelievable striker. He had it all in his game and almost every defender he came up against was terrified of him.

Ollie Watkins is a very good player, but he’s nowhere near where Henry was – he probably never will be either.

However, the Aston Villa man has done something this season that has impressed Henry.

When he came on Sky Sports recently, Henry said: “This is always something that I mention about players, can you also assist?

“We all know that Ollie Watkins can score, but can you add something else to your game? Can you come, lay off the ball to someone? Not only are you scoring, we all know that you have that in your locker, so that impresses me.”
