Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been dating for less than a year, but we’ve seen more content from them two than we did from any of her exes. However, it seems like the singer never really enjoyed hiding her previous loves.
The celebrity couple went public in September when Taylor Swift was spotted at the Arrowhead Stadium cheering on Travis Kelce as he graced the field. Since then, we’ve been provided with tons of adorable photos and videos, most recently the two loved up at Coachella. It looks like the music star has ‘found the one’ as it’s what she wanted all along. A relationship she didn’t have to hide.
Taylor Swift never wanted to ‘hide’ her relationships
Before dating the NFL star, Taylor Swift was in a long-term relationship with Joe Alwyn, for six years. They kept their relationships notoriously private, like she has done with most of her exes during her celebrity lifetime. However, she once revealed in 2012, she wasn’t a fan of keeping things locked away.
“To me it all depends on who you’re with,” she told Alan Carr on his UK chat show when he asked how hard it was for her to keep her private life private.
“If they have a serious issue with it, then I guess you hide or whatever. But I don’t really like that.
“It makes me feel like I’m running from the law or something. I don’t want to feel like I’m a fugitive, like ‘Oh my God we’re having a relationship! Better put on a mask!'” she continued, receiving chuckles from the crowd.
She then went on to say she’d rather just ‘live her life’. “If you can have a relationship and have it seem normal, that would be good,” the star concluded.
“She knows her love should be celebrated,” one user commented, as the video went viral on TikTok.
“Travis understood what it meant to start this and wanted it anyway. That’s love,” wrote a second.
A third claimed: “He makes her feel safe. I don’t think she’s ever had that before. She finally feels safe.”
However, some users came to Alwyn’s defense, as one penned: “People also need to stop criticizing Joe just because he wanted a private life.”
From July – October 2012, around the time of the interview, Swift was rumored to be dating Conor Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s son.
Travis hints he will be joining Taylor in Joe’s home country
At the moment, the Bad Blood singer is on a well-deserved break from her Eras Tour, but in May she’ll be back on the road as she heads to Europe.
We’ve seen Kelce join her across the globe in countries such as Australia and Singapore, and he’s now revealed he’ll be joining her in Europe too.
This includes eight shows at the prestigious Wembley Arena. “Oh, you know, I gotta go support,” he tells ET of her European leg. “You know it.”
“Man, I’ll tell you what. The London shows, I think she’s at Wembley eight times, which is mind-blowing that she can do that many shows in one stadium and fill that thing up,” he said.
Let’s hope Joe isn’t around Wembley then!
