Report: West Ham told to pay £21m for striker that broke Didier Drogba record against Liverpool this season

West Ham’s main priority in the summer will be signing a striker, among other areas of the squad that require strengthening. Michail Antonio, as things stand, will be leaving at the end of the season.

At 34, and with his deal expiring in June, it is unclear if the Hammers will agree to extend his stay at The London Stadium. It leaves West Ham lacking in options up top. Jarrod Bowen has played there mostly.

He’s been sensational but at his best, he is most effective on the wing. West Ham need a centre-forward that can bring the likes of Bowen into play. Reports say they have bid for Union St. Gilloise’s Mo Amoura.

But, he is not the only one the Hammers are looking to buy. Scouring Europe for a new striker, West Ham are also keen on Toulouse’s Dutch centre-forward Thijs Dallinga – who is starring in France, and Europe.

Joining Toulouse in 2022, 23-year-old Dallinga enjoyed his first season in Ligue 1 – scoring 18 goals in 42 games in league and cup. That form has continued this term, netting another 16 goals in 39 matches.

His goals were key in pushing Toulouse into the Conference League this season, in which Dallinga scored four goals in eight games – including one against Liverpool both home, and away. He broke a big record.

How much West Ham will have to pay to sign Dallinga

The first player to do so while playing for a French club, since Didier Drogba did it back in 2003-04, with Marseille. Now, an update on his price tag and a potential move in the summer, from Jeunes Footeux.

They report that Toulouse want a fee of £21m, who is also a transfer target for Stade Rennais. That fee is supposedly putting West Ham off, even if the Hammers are more capable of affording it, than Rennes.

A big summer is approaching for Dallinga and Toulouse, with the Dutch target man destined to eventually exit the Ligue 1 club. Whether it will be to West Ham, remains to be seen. But he’s a target for West Ham.
