Southeastern commuter delays amid power fault between Sittingbourne and Faversham

Frustrated passengers commuting from work are facing long delays after a power failure brought railway services to a halt.

Southeastern services are unable to run between Sittingbourne and Faversham due to a fault with the barriers at the level crossing at Teynham.

The line is blocked in both directions and as a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Southeastern has informed commuters its engineers are en route to investigate the failure, restore power and reopen the crossing.

The response team hopes to be on-site by 6pm this evening (April 17).

A spokesperson added: “Once on site, they will work to establish whether it will be safe for us to run across the crossing at a reduced speed while they carry out the necessary repairs.

“Please allow extra time to complete your journey with us today.”
