Fresh from their exit from Death in Paradise, one star has signed up for a new BBC series.

One of the show's much-loved star Tahj Miles has landed a huge new rule in an upcoming BBC drama. The 22-year-old actor is best known to fans for playing Officer Marlon Pryce in the Caribbean detective series, but in this new role, Tahj will be taking on a new character named Daniel in a production of Mr Loverman.

Based on Booker prize-winning author Bernardine Evaristo's novel, the new show follows Barrington Jedidiah Walker, a 74-year-old man who is forced to hide his steamy affair with his best friend and soulmate, Morris, from his wife of 50 years, Carmel.

Faye Ward, Executive Producer for Fable Pictures, said: "We are so excited to bring together this tremendous wealth of acting talent across the board. It's a dream come true and we can't wait for audiences to see Bernardine's story brought to life."

Boasting a starstudded cast that includes Line of Duty and The Walking Dead star Lennie James, Olivier Award winner Sharon D. Clarke and His Dark Materials actor Ariyon Bakare, the show promises to be a rollercoaster of emotions with fans sure to be hooked from episode one. The new high profile role marks the first for Tahj since he bowed out of Death in Paradise back in March, when the character was written out of the series and fled the island for pastures new.

His last scenes aired on March 3, 2024, when his sister Jocelyn received a letter about a scholarship in Jamaica. Speaking about his exit in March, he took to Instagram to share a simple goodbye message as he wrote: "It's been real people, Marlon out."

Following his departure many fans were left in floods of tears, with several hoping that one day he may even return. One fan wrote: "Fully sobbing that Marlon has left," as a second added: "Gutted Marlon leaving." A third penned: "Gutted Tahj D Miles has wrapped on Death In Paradise. Marlon Pryce was mint, perfectly portrayed. Cheers for the fun Tahj mate and all the best for the future."

Tahj's exit wasn't the only departure to break the hearts of fans either, as show lead Ralf Little also opted to bow out of the show at the end of the 13th series, after four enjoyable years on the show playing DI Neville Parker. Fans last saw Neville sailing off into the sunset with DS Florence Cassell, in a poignant, even if bittersweet happy ending for the character.
