Champions League semi-finalists targeting ‘ambitious’ move to sign ‘exceptional’ Chelsea player this summer

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now claimed that one of the Champions League semi-finalists are plotting a move to sign one of Chelsea’s top players.

He told CaughtOffside that that PSG are considering making a move for one of their targets this summer.

Chelsea are expected to be busy in the transfer window this summer, with a number of positions needing to be strengthened after this season.

However, they are well aware that they are likely to have to sell before they buy, and have a number of homegrown players they can part ways with in order to balance the books.

Conor Gallagher is frequently mentioned as a big name they could be forced to sell, however there is another key name who is reportedly being looked at across Europe.

Levi Colwill has had a very strong first season at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues convincing him to commit his future to them.

PSG want Levi Colwill

His brilliance has seemingly been noted by some of the biggest sides in European football, with Jacobs claiming that PSG are plotting a move for the England international.

He said: “And I expect PSG to bring in a centre-back. We know about their long-standing interest in Lille’s Leny Yoro, having had a bid rejected in January. Levi Colwill is another ambitious target despite the fact Chelsea aren’t looking to sell him.

“Even with outgoings planned at Stamford Bridge, Colwill is not one of the players Chelsea intend to lose. PSG will simply monitor the situation with a view to the long-term future in case anything changes. This is a normal window-planning tactic.”

When playing in his regular role of centre-back, there have been few better than Colwill in the Premier League this season.

Pundits seem to have noticed his strong start to life at Chelsea too. Jamie Redknapp described him as ‘exceptional’ earlier this season.

It does feel unlikely that the Blues would part ways with the academy graduate, with it seeming the project at the back is made for him.

Colwill reportedly is not going to be fit though when the Blues take part in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, which will be a big blow for them at Wembley.
