‘I don’t believe’: Jamie Carragher shares who he thinks are actually better – Arsenal or Bayern Munich

Arsenal were eliminated from the Champions League by Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners were defeated 1-0 at the Allianz Arena courtesy of a Joshua Kimmich goal, and to say that this result was frustrating would be an understatement.

Indeed, Arsenal would’ve fancied their chances of going through here considering Bayern’s recent league form, but, unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.

Speaking on CBS, Jamie Carragher has been reviewing this game, and he’s made an interesting claim about both teams in the wake of this result.

Jamie Carragher’s claim about Arsenal and Bayern Munich

Despite the result on Wednesday, Carragher claimed that he thinks that Arsenal are still a better team than Bayern Munich.

“I don’t believe that Bayern Munich are a better team than Arsenal, and I don’t believe that Real Madrid are a better team than Man City, but we’re talking about a team who’ve never won the Champions League at Arsenal and Man City who have won it once. Real Madrid have won 14 and Bayern Munich have won six or seven,” Carragher said.

Arsenal might be better than Bayern Munich

It sounds ridiculous after a result like this, but Carragher may have a point here.

A two-legged victory in the Champions League doesn’t necessarily mean you’re the better team.

Fulham have had the better of Arsenal over their two games this season – does that also mean they’re the better side?

Over the course of the season, Arsenal have been way more consistent than Bayern Munich, and you would say they have been the better side this season.

Of course, the only thing that matters is the result over the two legs, and Bayern do have the bragging rights over Arsenal, but, at the same time, Arsenal can be proud of how they have performed this season.
