'This guy is sensational': Jamie Carragher says player Liverpool reportedly want is 'going to be a superstar'

Jamie Carragher has heaped praise on a player who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.

The Reds are in Italy right now, getting ready for their big game against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side suffered a shock 3-0 defeat in the first leg at Anfield last week, and they now have a mountain to climb in order to qualify for the next round of the competition.

Ahead of their preparations for the game, the decision-makers at Liverpool must have seen one of their targets in action in the Champions League last night.

It’s safe to say that Carragher was absolutely amazed by him.

Jamie Carragher names the rare thing Liverpool target Jamal Musiala does

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Jamal Musiala for a few months now.

The German is one of Bayern Munich’s most exciting players. He is already up there with the best in the Bundesliga, and the fact that he’s still only 21 means he will get even better.

Musiala was the star of the show as Bayern Munich knocked Liverpool’s Premier League title rivals, Arsenal, out of the Champions League last night.

Joshua Kimmich, who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, was the one who scored the winner, but Musiala’s performance caught everybody’s eye.

Jamie Carragher was in the CBS Sports studios last night, and he was truly wowed by the young Germany international’s performance.

The Liverpool legend claimed that Musiala is guaranteed to be a superstar in the coming years and also highlighted a trait he possesses that we rarely see in the top level these days.

Carragher said: “Musiala, for me, this guy is sensational. I think he’s going to be a superstar. Look what he’s doing at Champions League level, quarter-finals.

“His ability to run past people, it’s a skill we don’t see so often in the game now. You see one touch, two touch, move the ball on quickly, but seeing somebody dribble at the highest level, it almost feels a little bit like a throwback.

“He didn’t end up getting a goal or assist at the end of all this, but there’s so much to admire from his game and he was a real thorn in the side of Arsenal.

“You see him going past Declan Rice, the first clip showed him going past Jorginho. That’s what you very rarely see – players in central positions dribbling past their opposition.”

What Lionel Messi thinks of Jamal Musiala is really interesting

There are quite a few terrific young players in the world today.

The first one that springs to your mind is obviously Jude Bellingham, who is a truly magnificent young player. He has been unbelievable for Real Madrid and is an absolute superstar.

Barcelona’s Gavi, Pedri and now Lamine Yamal are all magnificent talents as well, while there are players in the Premier League too, albeit a little older, like Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden.

However, while selecting the winner of the Kopa trophy at the end of last year, Lionel Messi was asked to give his top three picks for the award.

The legendary Argentine snubbed everyone else and picked Jamal Musiala as the best young talent in the world in 2023. He named Pedri second and Bellingham third in his list.

That should be enough to convince Liverpool to go all out for his signature, but we’re sure Bayern Munich will do everything they possibly can to keep hold of him.
