What Cedric did to a gutted Kai Havertz after Arsenal exited Champions League to Bayern

Arsenal last night exited the UEFA Champions League after losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich, with Kai Havertz starting up front for the Gunners.

Having played in midfield on Sunday against Aston Villa, the Germany international returned to the centre-forward position with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka completing the attack, though Arsenal were toothless in Germany.

Havertz failed to create much whilst both Martinelli and Saka were on the end of criticism for their performances in Munich, with Bayern showing Arsenal what is needed to progress in the Champions League at this stage.

Cedric Soares comforts Havertz after 1-0 Bayern Munich loss

In a video posted on Twitter by user Selorm, Cedric is seen comforting a distraught Havertz on the Arsenal bench as the Bayern celebrations ring around the stadium, with the north London side completely dejected.

The moment from Havertz showed one clear thing, that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder was completely gutted about the result and potentially how his own performance could have led to an Arsenal win had it been better.

Indeed, Havertz was far from the worst player on the pitch and had some moments where chances could have been created, but the German international’s reaction showed that the summer signing from Chelsea was broken at full-time.

Having already won the competition with the Blues, Havertz is one of the few Arsenal players in this squad with experience in the competition, and the versatile attacker will be desperate next year to get the Gunners back in contention.

Havertz can help push the Gunners to Champions League glory next year

Arsenal potentially did better than what most people thought the Gunners would do in Europe this season, with Mikel Arteta leading one of the youngest squads on the continent to a quarter-final where the tie was only separated by one goal.

And next season could see Arsenal go on step further, with Havertz a player who will want to push the Gunners to glory and to secure his second European title as a star man.

Arsenal know what steps need to be made, and it appears that these decisions will be made in the summer ahead of what could be another window of huge change for the north London side.
