The LSU football staff has been on a roll recruiting offensive linemen in recent cycle, and the Tigers aren’t slowing down in the current 2025 class.

LSU has commitments in from a trio of prospects, which includes a pair of On3 Top 100 recruits in Tyler Miller and Devin Harper.

On Thursday, LSU Assistant Director of Player Personnel Carl St. Cyr and Recruiting Specialist Donovan Tate reached out to the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2026 class in Missouri’s Jackson Cantwell.

The result: a verbal scholarship offer from LSU to the 5-star and No. 4 overall prospect on the On3 Industry Rankings. Cantwell checks in as the No. 6 overall prospect on the On3 rankings.

Can LSU get into the mix with another Top 10 prospect?

LSU holds the early On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for a trio of On3’s Top 10 prospects in the 2026 class in Louisiana defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart (No. 1 overall), offensive lineman Lamar Brown (No. 4 overall) and safety Blaine Bradford (No. 10).

In March, On3’s Chad Simmons broke down where things stood with Cantwell as more college programs jumped into the mix.

“Missouri was the first school to offer Jackson Cantwell and the home-state school has made him feel like a priority already,” Simmons said. “He is familiar with Columbia and Missouri is likely to be a contender in this race, but there are others in this too. Oklahoma is one to keep an eye on early. Cantwell has tripped to Norman numerous times and he has a strong relationship with Bill Bedenbaugh. He was back in Athens (in March) and Georgia has made him a priority early. Nebraska is a school to keep an eye on, too, and Michigan could get a visit later this spring.”

Now, LSU is officially in the mix and are expected to get Cantwell in for a visit as he navigates his recruitment ahead of his junior season this fall.

More from On3 on Jackson Cantwell

Jackson Cantwell, who has the nickname of “Mr. Olympics,” has the DNA that coaches dream of. Cantwell is the son of former USA Olympians Christian and Teri (Steer) Cantwell. His father is a five-time world champion and won a silver medal in the shot put at the 2008 Beijing games and in 2004 had the top four shot put throws in the world. Teri Cantwell participated in the 2000 Sydney games and was a two-time NCAA shot put champion at SMU. “It’s pretty amazing,” Nixa coach John Perry told the Springfield News-Leader. “He has not only been blessed genetically from his height. But he’s also been blessed with parents who have put a work ethic in him to where he likes to work out and get stronger. He likes to be better than he was the day before and everybody doesn’t have that.” Along with his football accolades, Cantwell also excels in shotput like his parents. He had one of the top 20 throws amongst all high schoolers in 2023. Cantwell also scored a 33 on the ACT – when he was a freshman.
