‘Absolutely incredible’: Ben Foster says ‘phenomenal’ Man City player has been so good this season

Ben Foster has heaped praise on one Manchester City player for his performances this season.

After winning their fifth Premier League title in six years last season, the Blues are in the frame to potentially become the first team to win a fourth top-flight title in a row.

With just six games left to play in the campaign, one pundit and former top-flight player has been sharing his thoughts on one of City’s top performers.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Foster had this to say about Phil Foden when discussing some of this season’s top young players.

He said: “I’m so thankful that I’m an England fan and he’s English, I really am.

“The form that he’s been in this season, it’s only going to benefit England. If you can’t fit Phil Foden into an England team then what hope have you got?

“He has been absolutely incredible, he’s won five Premier Leagues already, he’s 23 years old. He’s one of the most naturally gifted footballers you’ll ever see. It’s almost like he was born with the ball at his feet, he’s phenomenal to watch.

“250 appearances at 23 is incredible, you’re talking about somebody who has to be able to look after themselves properly. Not only being professional but it’s also knowing your body.

“The style of play Phil Foden plays is he’s rapid, he’s going to take players on, he’s going to run past people, he’s going to invite tackles, basically.

“He has to be quick enough and clever enough to see those sorts of tackles coming and avoid them and look after his body.”

Phil Foden has been City’s star player this season

Having featured in all of City’s 32 league games this season, the midfielder has scored 11 goals and provided five assists.

In addition to that, the 23-year-old has registered the second-highest number of shots (90), shots on target (38), key passes (61), shot-creating actions (120), goal-creating actions (16), successful take-ons (42) and carries into the penalty area (52) in the City squad.

Foden’s overall performances have earned him a season rating of 7.47/10 from WhoScored, making him the third-highest-rated player in the league.

Taking all of that into account, it’s not hard to see why Foster has been so impressed with the City star and his efforts in the Premier League this season.

With only a handful of games left to play before the campaign draws to a close, if Foden can add to his goals and assists tally and help his side pick up as many points as possible, he will have played a massive role in potentially seeing them make history and win a fourth title in a row.
