Two friends who bought a Powerball ticket in New Jersey will share a $1 million prize.

Two friends from New Jersey who agreed to split a Powerball lottery ticket will share a $1 million prize.

The pair, who opted to remain anonymous, held a second-prize ticket that matched five numbers but not the Powerball.

One of the lucky winners said he plans to get a beach house, while the other will save for retirement, lottery officials said.

The ticket for the April 3 drawing was bought at Atco Deli on Jackson Road in Atco, Camden County, lottery officials said.

The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 to win a third prize of at least $50,000.

Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is valued at an estimated $98 million with a cash option of $45.8 million.
