'He is special': Joe Cole says there's one player at Man City he'd love to play alongside

Joe Cole has named one Manchester City player he would love to have played with during his career.

In 674 senior club appearances, the former attacking-midfielder scored 97 goals and delivered 86 assists playing for sides such as Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham United among others.

Now though, the pundit has been sharing his thoughts on one particular figure currently making a name for himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the TNT Sports YouTube channel, Cole had this to say about Phil Foden.

He said: “I personally would have loved to have played with Phil Foden.

“I think he is special, I think he’s been the best player in the league this year.

“Very much like to think I was a similar player to him.”

Imagine Cole playing alongside Phil Foden

This season has seen the midfielder feature in all of City’s 32 Premier League games scoring 11 goals and providing five assists along the way.

On top of that, the Englishman has racked up the second-highest number of shots (90), shots on target (38), key passes (61), shot-creating actions (120) and goal-creating actions (16) in the City squad.

Foden has also made more successful take-ons (42) and carries into the penalty area (52) than any of his City teammates.

Also, the fact that the 23-year-old has had more touches in the attacking third of the pitch (1057) than any other player in Pep Guardiola’s squad shows just how much of a prominent and dangerous figure he is for opposition defenders.

Taking all of that on board, it’s no surprise to us that Cole is such a big admirer of Foden and would have relished the chance to play alongside him.
