Report: Some Chelsea staff actually want the club to keep 22-year-old this summer, he wants to leave

Reports have claimed that there are some staff at the club who are keen for one player to stay at Chelsea at the end of the season.

According to CaughtOffside, no official decision has been made at Stamford Bridge on the player, however he has reportedly individually made up his mind.

Chelsea are set to be busy this summer, with them needing to sell a number of players before they bring in replacements.

A number of those currently out on loan are those who can be expected to move on, with Romelu Lukaku and Armando Broja who are amongst those on the chopping block.

Ian Maatsen stars in the Champions League

Another who is currently elsewhere is Ian Maatsen, who starred in the Champions League this week as part of the Borussia Dortmund side.

The Dutchman has finally begun playing football on a regular basis, after finding opportunities hard to come by under Mauricio Pochettino in West London.

It has been reported today that the 22-year-old has decided he wants to leave the Blues, with him throughly enjoying his time over in Germany.

Some Chelsea staff want to keep Ian Maatsen

However, it has now been claimed that there are some staff at the club who would like him to stay beyond this summer.

If he is to be sold, it is likely the Blues reinvest in the position going forwards, with Lewis Hall also set to be on the move.

While they do have Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella in that role, the duo have both spent prolonged periods of time on the sidelines due to injury.

It feels as if they would struggle to sign someone as good as Maatsen though for the price they are looking to sell him for, although there are questions as to whether current manager Mauricio Pochettino has belief that he can be a usable player for him at Chelsea.
