Report: Oliver Glasner has reintroduced something Patrick Vieira did at Crystal Palace, players love it

Oliver Glasner has reintroduced something Patrick Vieira did before Roy Hodgson came back to Selhurst Park – and the Crystal Palace players love it.

Those in SE25 have witnessed a lot of turnover in recent times, with Crystal Palace fans seeing three different managers in the dugout during the 2022/23 campaign if you include Paddy McCarthy.

Every manager has their own way of doing things, with some decisions going down better than others.

However, Oliver Glasner has now made a popular move at Crystal Palace – bringing back something Patrick Vieira had introduced before Roy Hodgson changed it…

What Oliver Glasner has done at Crystal Palace

Well – according to London World – the Austrian has made an amendment to when players meet up before games.

It is said that Vieira ordered his players to arrive three hours before kick-off during the Frenchman’s time in charge, but that was later changed to two hours by Hodgson.

Now – however – Glasner is said to have changed it back to three hours, in a move that has gone down well with Crystal Palace players, according to sources close to London World.

The squad eat a pre-match meal together and discover the starting XI in a short meeting before heading to the stadium, with sources adding that this has improved togetherness and squad morale at Selhurst Park.

London World state that Glasner used this same routine during his successful stint at Eintracht Frankfurt.

It is also said that Sunday’s 1-0 win over Liverpool has earned the man from Salzburg added trust from his players, which is fantastic to hear.

Changes seem to be working

Something was very off under Hodgson.

Players wouldn’t celebrate goals together as a group, while nobody seemed genuinely enthused to be at Crystal Palace – to put it simply.

That was reflected in performances, with nobody really putting their body on the line for the club like several did at Anfield on Sunday, such as Tyrick Mitchell and Nathaniel Clyne.

There has – however – now been a clear change in desire and effort levels, while it was also pleasing to see the entire group celebrate Ebere Eze’s goal at Anfield.

The Crystal Palace No.10 also did not hesitate to praise Mitchell for his work in the buildup, which was refreshing to see.

Signs are undoubtedly positive, and when Glasner is afforded an entire summer to work with his players and make some signings of his own, the future should be very bright for Crystal Palace.
