'Quick and easy' way to look 'stylish' and years younger in your 40s, 50s and 60s

Fashion can be used as a way to express yourself and also to help create a more flattering silhouette, but what you wore in your 30s might not suit you in your 50s.

Speaking exclusively to GB News, an expert shared tips for how to look your best and a principle that can be applied at any age.

Distinguished fashion stylist and Emmy Award-winning costume designer Brenda Cooper explained you "do not need to lose your mojo" when it comes to ageing and dressing in your 40s, 50s and 60s.

She said: "In fact, it may be the perfect opportunity to elevate your personal style and confidence to counter any affect or social stigma of ageing. There’s nothing quite as fabulous as a mature woman with a great sense of personal style and flair."

The fashion expert explained a trick everyone can do called "the silhouette solution" which involves building a wardrobe full of basic items that can be paired.

Brenda continued: "There is a quick, easy, no-thinking-required way to build a fabulously functional wardrobe that works for your 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond. I’ve used it for decades - I call it the silhouette solution.

"It makes getting dressed an opportunity to look and feel stylish and comfortable so that you walk out the door feeling beautiful, confident and at home in your body. That kind of empowerment is always in style.

"Regardless of your age, size, height, or shape this dressing system works across the board. It’s as simple as building what I call your silhouette wardrobe of outfits that consist of four basic tops, four basic bottoms and four shoe styles, flat or heeled."

Once you have your basics, you can put together a variety of flattering outfits, the expert continued.

She said: "To create a stunning silhouette outfit you simply put together a top, a bottom and a shoe all in the same colour.

"This is what I call your silhouette outfit. Think of it like building a flattering and elongating column. Your silhouette outfit could be black, navy or brown for winter and white, off-white or beige for summer.

"It creates a simple yet elegant and well put together look that is fashionable plus the garments are always available year-round online or in the stores."

Make the outfit your own with what Brenda describes as a "personality piece". She said: "Once you have your silhouette outfit on you then add a colorful over piece that I call your personality piece.
