Rebecca Minkoff is the new rumored RHONY cast member, just days after the now-departed RHOBH star Crystal Kung Minkoff, married to Rob, announced her Real Housewives franchise exit.
After Crystal Minkoff revealed she’s leaving RHOBH after three seasons, eyes darted to Rebecca Minkoff, the supposed fashion designer replacing Crystal. A theory has now formed that they’re related somehow.
Rebecca Minkoff is not ‘related’ to Rob
Rebecca has no relation whatsoever to Crystal’s husband, Rob Minkoff. They simply have the same last name, while it’s rumored Rebecca will be a new star on The Real Housewives of New York City.
She’ll be joining RHONY season 15 just after Crystal’s exit from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after three seasons. Despite some thinking there would be a family reveal on the show, this is not the case!
Although Rob and Rebecca are not related, they do share the same ethnicity, as they’re both Jewish, Rebecca identifies as both Jew and Scientology. On the other hand, Rob is not a Scientologist.
RHOBH fans discuss Minkoff surname
It is believed the Minkoff surname is a Westernized form of the Jewish names, Minkov or Minkow, which could be where the two’s familial backgrounds overlap in terms of religion.
One fan asked, “Does anyone know if the RHONY newbie Rebecca Minkoff is related to Crystal??” While another said, “Did Bravo trade Crystal for Rebecca? There can only be one Minkoff on this network 🤣.”
“I see the balance – remove a Minkoff on the (US) West Coast and gain a Minkoff on the East Coast,” a Reddit user penned, to which a fellow fan simply asked, “Who is doing the casting??”
Meet Rob Minkoff’s family
Rob was born to a Jewish family in Palo Alto, California to Jack Robert Minkoff and Tola Fay Minkoff. He doesn’t appear to have siblings but Crystal has a brother, Jeffrey Kung, who she runs a business with.
He met Crystal Kung Minkoff at a party in his office in 2003, and they attended the Finding Nemo premiere as their first date. Minkoff proposed to her on Valentine’s Day 2006.
The two married on September 29, 2007, and now have a son named Max and a daughter named Zoe. Both Rob and Crystal’s mothers are super close, while his mom celebrated her 98th birthday in January.
