Trent Alexander-Arnold shares what happened in Liverpool dressing room after Europa League exit

Liverpool are out of the Europa League after losing 3-1 on aggregate to Atalanta.

The Reds were in better shape for yesterday’s away leg in Italy, but left themselves far too much to do to turn the tie around.

Focus must now shift solely to the Premier League, where Liverpool have six games left to send Jurgen Klopp out on the highest of highs.

Unfortunately, the Reds’ fate is no longer in their own hands where the title is concerned. Having been beaten disappointingly by Crystal Palace last weekend, they’re going to need a slip-up or two from Manchester City.

After last night’s rather uninspiring display against Atalanta, plenty of Liverpool supporters will be feeling at a low ebb this morning. But according to Trent Alexander-Arnold, the first-team squad don’t share in that dejection.

What has Trent Alexander-Arnold said

Alexander-Arnold was comfortably Liverpool’s best player on Thursday night. Although he admitted that he ‘ran out of juice’ in the second-half, it was great to see the 25-year-old out there pulling the strings again.

His return is one of the positives Liverpool can take into the final half-dozen games of the campaign. We’ve really missed him.

And speaking to LFCTV after the game, Alexander-Arnold claimed that there are other reasons for he and his teammates to be ‘positive’ about the rest of the season. The vice-captain said that the mood was upbeat in the Reds camp in the bowels of the Gewiss Stadium last night.

“It’s decisions at the end of the day,” said Trent when asked about potential turning points in the game.

“Mo [Salah] will be disappointed not to tuck his chance away. I think there was a potential red card in there that would have obviously changed the game but we can’t focus on that.

“After the game we spoke quite positively about the rest of the season. We’ve got about a month left. We’ve got to give everything and that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to throw everything at it and try and do what we can.”

Who do Liverpool have left to play

There are now just six games remaining of Jurgen Klopp’s reign as Liverpool manager. Imagine that. It boggles the mind a little bit.

Of course, the manager will get his big send off whether the Reds lift the Premier League title on May 19th or not. He’s even already picked the band he wants to play to close out his reign at Liverpool.

Before then though, Liverpool just have to try and win as many of their final dirty half-dozen as they can.

That begins with a trip to Fulham this Sunday. Klopp’s last Merseyside Derby then awaits on Wednesday, before Liverpool travel to West Ham a week on Saturday.

A home game with Tottenham follows. Then a visit to Aston Villa and a clash with Wolves rounds out the season. Plenty still to play for. Let’s ensure we see Jurgen off in style.
