Arsenal injury latest and return dates with 3 Wolves doubts amid Timber update

The latest Arsenal injury news ahead of the Gunners visiting Wolves in the PremierLeague this Saturday as Mikel Arteta provides updates on Jurrien Timber and more.

A trip to the Old Gold awaits Arsenal this weekend as the north London club look to bounce back from a disappointing week. Arteta has seen the Gunners hand Manchester City control of the Premier League title race and crash out of the Champions League in a matter of days.

Losing 2-0 at home to Aston Villa last Sunday last left Arsenal two points behind the Citizens through 32 top-flight games. While a 1-0 loss at Allianz Arena saw Bayern Munich take a 3-2 win on aggregate in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and a tie with Real Madrid.

Arsenal injury list ahead of visiting Wolves in the Premier League

Arsenal still boast the best goal difference in the Premier League at +49, so would go above Manchester City (+44) if the Citizens drop two points in the run-in. But while Arteta’s team goes to Wolves this Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s side will face Chelsea in an FA Cup semi-final.

Arteta also has some injury concerns at London Colney before Arsenal go to Wolves. Martin Odegaard took a knock at Bayern Munich and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka also continues to struggle. So, with that in mind, here is Arsenal’s injury situation before they head to Wolves.

Hale End hero Saka has been struggling with his muscular injury since the start of the March international break. The issue forced the 22-year-old to withdraw from the England side. He then got a knock at Manchester City, which saw Saka miss Arsenal’s win against Luton Town.

Saka has since sought to play through the injury in Arsenal’s win over Brighton, plus defeats to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich. But the forward has continued to look low on fitness and has taken further knocks. Yet Arteta is confident that Saka is fit for Arsenal’s trip to Wolves.

Expected return: Wolves (April 20)

Martin Odegaard injury latest

Arsenal star Odegaard took a heavy knock in their defeat at Bayern Munich this Wednesday. It also followed the Gunners captain taking a knock in their defeat to Aston Villa, which saw Arteta replace the midfielder with 10 minutes left. He played the full 90 minutes in Bavaria.

Odegaard should be fit to lead Arsenal out at Wolves, though, with Arteta confirming he has not sustained an injury. The 25-year-old has skippered the Gunners in 31 of their 32 Premier League games so far this term. He also boasts seven goals and six assists in 2,565 minutes.

Jurrien Timber injury latest

Arsenal continue to play the return of Jurrien Timber with extreme caution following seven months out with an ACL injury. But Arteta feels the 22-year-old is looking good in training at London Colney as he continues to edge nearer to a potential return before the season ends.

Timber will ramp up his recovery following surgery for his ACL injury with an appearance for Arsenal’s Under-21 side, too. The defender has not featured since he suffered the injury on his Premier League debut. Timber only enjoyed 50 minutes at home to Nottingham Forest.

“It’s too soon,” Arteta said in his presser this Friday. “He’s gonna play a game with the 21s and after that we will see better. He looks really good in training but it’s that last big step.”

Expected return: April/May 2024
