To say that Liverpool’s midfield has improved this season would be an understatement.
The Reds have completely revamped their midfield this term after making numerous signings in the summer, and most of those new acquisitions have been home runs.
Indeed, the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo have been fantastic since arriving at Anfield, but perhaps the best of the bunch has been Alexis Mac Allister.
The World Cup winner has been remarkable since signing for Liverpool, and now, speaking to Mail Sport, the Argentine has received some special praise from Douglas Luiz.

Speaking to Mail Sport, Luiz stated that the Liverpool star is actually a better player than Manchester City’s Mateo Kovacic.
“Mac Allister or Kovacic?” Luiz was asked.
“Mac Allister,” Luiz said.

We have to agree with Luiz here.
Mac Allister and Kovacic both moved to two of the biggest clubs in England this summer for similar fees, and yet, only one of these players are discussed in the Signing of the Season conversation.
Mac Allister is seen as a massive bargain at £35m, while nobody is really mentioning the value Kovacic has brought to Man City at the same price.
Of course, Kovacic’s CV is greater than Mac Allisters, particularly at club level, considering the trophies he has won, but Mac Allister has plenty of time to catch up in that regard.
If we were picking our team tomorrow, we’d absolutely put Mac Allister in ahead of Kovacic.
However, with that being said, Kovacic is still a fantastic player, but Mac Allister has been that much more transformative at Liverpool this season than Kovacic has been at City.
