Arsenal now learn potential fee for Arteta's 'primary target' ahead of transfer window

Arsenal look set to strengthen their attack in the summer transfer window, with recent games showing that they still need reinforcements.

Although Mikel Arteta’s side are one of the highest scorers in the Premier League, with Kai Havertz beginning to thrive as a centre forward, back-to-back defeats to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich saw them fail to take their chances in front of goal.

Arsenal have been linked with several centre-forwards including Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, but a Premier League-proven option could be Newcastle star Alexander Isak.

Arteta was interested in the Sweden striker during his days at Real Sociedad, and interest still remains in him from the Gunners, although a deal could prove to be difficult.

Arsenal learn asking price for Alexander Isak

The Guardian have now reported that Arsenal have made Isak a key target to strengthen their attack, and revealed what kind of fee could be needed to sign him.

“It is understood that Newcastle’s striker Alexander Isak is one of the primary targets. He could cost about £100m and was heavily scouted by Arsenal before his move to St James’ Park in August 2022 for an initial £63m,” the report stated.

Newcastle look set to miss out on Champions League football, and may need to sell players to comply with financial fair play regulations, and Arsenal could be set to tempt them into a sale.

Isak has been excellent this season, scoring 17 goals in 24 Premier League appearances, and his combination of speed, technical skill and clinical finishing would be deadly in this Arsenal team.

The 24-year-old linked up superbly with Martin Odegaard when the pair played together for Real Sociedad, and should the pair reignite their relationship on the pitch, they could lead Arsenal to major trophies.

Arsenal have competed well with Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as centre-forward options, but Isak could provide the necessary speed and a clinical edge which both players lack, and this could be the level-raising option, with Premier League and European experience under his belt, to help improve Arteta’s side even further.

Eddie Nketiah looks likely to move on, and if Arsenal do sell their fringe players well, they would be able to fund a move for Isak if Newcastle are willing to listen to offers around the £100m mark.
