Arsenal’s search for a new striker is set to go into overdrive again this summer as Mikel Arteta once again seeks new players for his squad.
With the Gunners going out of Europe this week and their Premier League title challenge fading after the defeat against Aston Villa, fans are already looking towards the summer window.
Arsenal have been linked with plenty of strikers in recent months.
The likes of Benjamin Sesko, Ivan Toney, and Viktor Gyokeres are all thought to be on Arsenal’s radar.
Money is set to be made available for Mikel Arteta and with suggestions Gabriel Jesus might be on his way out, it looks like a new forward is guaranteed to come in.
And according to a report from Vamos Cruz Azul, Arsenal are now looking at another in-form forward.
Arsenal one of most keen clubs in signing Santiago Gimenez
According to the report from VCA, Arsenal and Tottenham are both keen on signing Gimenez, who has been in fine form for Feyenoord over the last few seasons.
After rattling in 28 goals last season, Gimenez has already got to 24 this term and is on course to hit the 30 goal mark.
Previous reports have suggested Gimenez is rated by Feyenoord at a huge £60m.
However, Cruz Azul’s report suggests that Gimenez could actually end up being sold for around the £30m mark.
That sort of figure, of course, would bring the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham even more into play.
Given the clamour for top strikers in Europe and the likes of Ivan Toney having £100m asking prices, £30m for a player like Gimenez seems a bargain.
Ready for the next step
Nobody can argue that Santiago Gimenez has done the business in Holland and earned his next move.
If that move is to someone like Arsenal, then it’s hard to argue that he won’t deliver the goods in Mikel Arteta’s side.
Gimenez’s goal record over the last two seasons has been outstanding and he has been lauded as a potential ‘superstar‘ thanks to his performances.
Arsenal quite clearly need someone who can get regular goals. Santiago Gimenez, then, could be the ideal signing.
