Man Utd must hijack £21m deal for 'immaculate' player, as Arsenal are set to bid this summer - opinion

This summer, Manchester United are going to be looking to overhaul the squad with a new left-back among the potential recruits.

One of the biggest problems for Erik ten Hag this season has been the injury crisis at left-back. This has left him without a left-sided defender for much of the campaign.

We’ve seen Sofyan Amrabat, Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and also Diogo Dalot move over to that position but a natural option is desired.

A move for a left-back is far more likely than a right-back according to HITC’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey, which makes a move for Jeremie Frimpong look unlikely.

But with the left-back market not looking too strong. Real Betis’ Juan Miranda has been linked but even this isn’t a move to excite many.

This is why United must look to hijack one deal that Arsenal is keen to complete this summer. He’d be the perfect Luke Shaw successor.

Manchester United should be in the running to sign Ferdi Kadioglu

On Thursday it was revealed in a report by the Turkish outlet Aksam that Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadioglu is set to be the subject of a bid this summer from Arsenal.

The report mentions that the Turkish Super Lig side is looking for a fee of €25m (£21.4m) to part with the 24-year-old.

This would be a real coup for the Gunners and it’s a signing we’d love to see Ineos in the running for as he’s among the best options for the left-back position.

Kadioglu would be instantly a better fit for the system at left-back than Tyrell Malacia – assuming the Dutchman ever returns.

He’s also at the age of coming into his prime, so would be perfect to be Shaw’s replacement when he inevitably gets injured, while also not standing in the way of Harry Amass too much in the coming years.

Here’s a look at just why Kadioglu is the ideal option this summer…

Why Ferdi Kadioglu must be an Old Trafford target this summer

For United, this summer while important to add certain qualities such as a big defensive midfielder, raising the technical bar at the club must be prioritised.

Signing Kadioglu would do just that as he actually began his career as a midfielder with his ‘immaculate first touch’ and ‘velcro-like ball control’ being standout qualities.

This sounds like we’re describing Shaw, which is why the Turkey international is ideal to sign.

Capable of playing either side of the back four, Kadioglu has the adaptability to fit into the plans of Ten Hag or whoever replaces him.

Here are his season stats for Fenerbahce which prove why he’s perfect.

Certainly seems as though he’d be an excellent choice to come in and strengthen the left-back position.

So Ineos should absolutely be all over this deal if they are looking to strengthen at left-back, they won’t find a better option.
