Russian state TV praises MTG despite past mockery of her 'mental debilitation'

Russian state TV broadcasters who once treated Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) as a joke now believe she's worthy of being taken very seriously.

The Daily Beast's Julia Davis reported that Kremlin-approved broadcasters have been ecstatic at the ways the Georgia congresswoman has taken a lead role in trying to block Congress from passing more military aid to Ukraine, which has been trying to fend off an unprovoked Russian invasion for the past two-plus years.

According to Davis, broadcasters have felt especially gratified that Greene has been reciting Kremlin propaganda about the Ukrainian government being filled with "Nazis," despite the fact that the country's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, is Jewish.

“Thank goodness she exists," gushed Russian state TV personality Vladimir Solovyov, according to Davis' translation.

Dmitry Drobnitsky, a guest on Solovyov's program this week, went so far as to inform viewers that Greene, rather than House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), was the one currently calling the shots in the United States House of Representatives.

"Everyone is afraid of her!" Drobnitsky excitedly declared. "She is everywhere, on every Committee, involved in all impeachments. ... This is a curious phenomenon in the camp of our real enemy. These are the kinds of people they have working in their Congress."

Davis also documents that this reverence for Greene is entirely new, as Russian state television personalities used to routinely lampoon her and use her as an example of America's poor educational system.

"In the past, Greene was routinely mocked for her uneducated statements and used as a prime example of how stupid all Americans are, which is a popular refrain in Russian media," writes Davis.

"After laughing at Greene for confusing gazpacho with the Nazi Gestapo and claiming that California wildfires have been caused by 'Jewish space lasers,' leading propagandists described her antics as evidence of the 'mental debilitation' of Western politicians."
