Geri and Christian Horner 'in talks' to make 'really personal' TV series to move on from Red Bull drama

Geri and Christian Horner are said to be in talks to make a fly-on-the-wall documentary, in a bid to show their recent relationship difficulties are behind them.

Sources said the couple have been approached by a TV production company that supplies streaming services to Netflix.
If it comes off, they will follow in the footsteps of David and Victoria Beckham, whose show addressed the former England captain’s alleged relationship with Rebecca Loos.

Geri and Horner appeared in recent Formula One Netflix series Drive to Survive and are now considering allowing the cameras to film them behind the scenes. A source said last night: “The idea that has been pitched is a really personal documentary, capturing Geri and Christian at home. Following the recent speculation about their relationship, there would be a huge amount of interest in seeing them together away from the race track and how they interact with their friends and family.

“Geri loved the Beckham documentary, and it was so positively received that it is easy to see why a similar show might appeal to Geri and Christian now. The off-the-cuff scenes at home between David and Victoria have completely transformed how they are viewed by people, particularly Victoria, who had the chance to show off her funny side. Netflix would be an obvious home for their series, if they agree to film one. But it is also possible it could spark a bidding war between firms, as there would be a massive amount of interest from viewers.”

Spice Girl Geri, 51, and Horner married in 2015 and their relationship came under scrutiny this year following a leak of hundreds of messages the F1 boss allegedly sent to a female colleague. They came to light 24 hours after it was revealed he had been cleared to continue as team principal at Red Bull following an internal probe into “inappropriate behaviour”.

Horner, 50, has always denied the claims by the woman. She has since been suspended from her job at the firm. And despite reportedly feeling “humiliated”, Geri was persuaded to put on a united front, flying to Bahrain to support Horner at the Grand Prix last month.

Sources said she had initially refused to join him but was talked into it by members of his family. The pair were seen holding hands and kissing in the paddock, in a bid to dispel rumours of a rift. But behind the scenes, members of Geri’s team were said to be “very concerned” about the damage the scandal could do to her brand.

It is thought a documentary would give the pair a chance to address the impact the media storm had on them, in the same way the Beckhams did over his alleged relationship. David, 48, told the Netflix show that stories about his fling with Ms Loos – who was not named – were “horrible”. The source added: “There were concerns at how the Horner scandal would affect Geri’s family-friendly image. A show presenting them as a tight-knit family would also be an opportunity for Geri to talk about her own projects, like her children’s books.”

The Beckham documentary, which was released last October, won Netflix its highest audience of the year with 3.8 million viewers. There was a classic moment where Victoria spoke about her “working class roots” only for David to reveal that she went to school in a Rolls-Royce. The scene became so popular that UberEats persuaded the couple to re-create it for a Super Bowl advert, in which Posh wore a “My Dad Had A Rolls-Royce” T-shirt.

Representatives for Geri and Horner declined to comment.
